Sophie's Spotlight: La Roux

Once upon a time a song, "Bulletproof," hit number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100. That song was La Roux’s only song to enter the charts in the US... at least for now...

La Roux is a musician, formerly a music duo, from England. Their first album, La Roux, was especially a success in England but didn’t make as big an impact in the US.

You might recognize the song "Bulletproof," but I actually think that it’s one of her weaker songs. I much prefer "Tigerlilly" on the same album.

After splitting from her producer partner in music-making, front-woman Elly Jackson continued on with Trouble in Paradise, her second album.

Luckily for all of us, she just came out with another album on February 7, 2020 (aka the day after this was posted).

Her music is great not just for fans of androgynous fashion but also for fans of 80s synth and synth-pop.

PS the formatting on this one is weird but I don't have the patience to figure out why so just deal with it
